The Life Of A DJ

Graham Gold

Words by John “00” Fleming

Over 30 years of experience has taken him to all corners of the world playing superb trance and techno for all the major brands and festivals, including Glastonbury, Homelands, Impulz, W.E.M.F., Summadayze and The Street Parade in Zurich. From Singapore to Sao Paulo, K.L. to Cape Town, Toronto to Tokyo, Jerusalem to Jo’Burg, Sarajevo to Santiago, San Francisco to Sydney, Los Angles to Las Vegas, plus headlining in Vancouver, Winnipeg, Jakarta, Manila, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Durban, Melbourne and Auckland. Plus of course all over Europe in Denmark, Finland, Ibiza, Malta, Greece, Spain and Holland–you name it, he’s played there. The experience gained over this time is priceless and is why Graham is constantly a welcome guest time and time again.

He has been in the DJ Mag Top 100 7 out of the last 9 years (2 years at 22 and 5 inside the Top 40), it’s no wonder clubbers and the industry call him a legend!!

Slinky (UK) and Manga Rosa (Brazil) has seized this asset and made Graham a resident throughout 2006.

It’s not just as a DJ Graham has gained his fan base. He’s now working hard in his own new studio, producing and engineering. Singles as The Ending, Nightdive and The Rest Of Us, plus his top rated remix of Steve Morley’s “Re-Incarnation” have had major support for one or more of the top players-Ferry, Armin, John “00” Fleming, Christopher Lawrence, Johan Gielen, Agnelli & Nelson to name just a few. His collab with top psy trance dj/producer Tristan “Silver & Gold” is in the boxes of PVD, JOOF and Johan Gielen and his new solo project “Culebra” is also being played by PVD, Johan and the cream of the worlds top trance dj’s. Plus great reviews in all the music mags!! Adding to that, he has sold over 700,000 mix albums across various leading brands including Kiss Mix, Kiss in Ibiza and Club Cuts.

Grahams strongest asset and where his true lovable personality comes across is on his radio shows. Having been 15 years with Kiss 100, reaching out to hundreds of thousands of listeners across the world, has given him a priceless amount of fans. His Ministry of Sound radio show proves to be on of the most popular on the internet airwaves, ( as are his monthly mixes for Kiss 100,, and (new for Latin America)

It’s for this reason Graham is still so popular and why such friends as Oaky, Coxy, Ferry, Armin & John “00” constantly support him.

  1. Sup D! Wow, your MySpace is kicking these days, very busy stuff! Thinking of joining sometime, must get around to it! Anyway, I got a question, man, and as the authority in the musical field, I figured you’re the guy to ask. What’s the deal with mashups/bootlegs? Who owns the intellectual property to a bootleg? If it is a bootlegger’s property then is it podsafe? Always been buggin’ me! Anyway, later days…

  2. A bootleg recording is an audio recording of a performance that was not officially released by the artist or under other legal authority. A great many such recordings are simply copied and traded among fans of the artist without financial exchange, but some bootleggers are able to sell these rarities for profit, sometimes by adding professional-quality sound engineering and packaging to the raw material. I would think its podsafe 🙂

Catch you all later, have a great weekend! Know i will checking out Tiesto for a 6hrs set @ Brixton Academy on Sat 🙂

Pst. Are there any decent Trance/Dance/Dj Forums in SA?
